The Ambassadors of the Political and Security Committee (PSC) of the European Union (EU) visited the Kosovo Specialist Chambers (KSC) and Specialist Prosecutor’s Office (SPO) today. President Ekaterina Trendafilova and Registrar Fidelma Donlon briefed the EU Member State representatives on the public proceedings before the court and the judicial support functions of the Registry. Acting Specialist Prosecutor Alex Whiting briefed the PSC on the mandate and work of the SPO.
“It was a pleasure to welcome the members of the EU’s Political and Security Committee at the KSC today. I am grateful to the European Union for its continued support to our institution, which is fully focussed on conducting secure, independent, impartial, fair and efficient judicial proceedings in which the rights of the accused are upheld, witnesses are able to testify safely and victims can participate with dignity,” the President said.
“The European Union supports the judicial independence of the Kosovo Specialist Chambers in its efforts to deliver justice and accountability for alleged crimes committed within its jurisdiction, through impartial and secure trials, held in accordance with the highest international criminal justice standards,” stated PSC Chair Ambassador Delphine Pronk.
