The 2024 annual report of the Kosovo Specialist Chambers (KSC) together with the annual report of the Specialist Prosecutors’ Office (SPO) is now available on the KSC website in the three official languages of the court: Albanian, Serbian and English. The KSC Report informs about important milestones that were reached during the year 2024 and adds information about the functions and activities of the independent Ombudsperson for the Specialist Chambers and Specialist Prosecutor’s Office.
Throughout 2024, one war crimes case reached its conclusion, a trial judgment was issued in a second war crimes case, and a case involving offences against the administration of justice was transferred to a trial panel. Following the confirmation of indictments against five accused for offences against the administration of justice, arrests were made and pre-trial proceedings initiated. The proceedings in the Thaci et al war crimes case have been progressing in an efficient manner and the first two persons convicted of offences against the administration of justice completed the service of their sentences.
In October 2024, President Ekaterina Trendafilova travelled to Kosovo to meet with stakeholders as well as the Ministry of Justice to provide them with an update on public information about mandate, administration and state of proceedings of the Specialist Chambers. In November, Judge Trendafilova hosted online meetings with civil society and Kosovo media to answer any question they had in relation to the public work of the court.
More information about the activities of the KSC and the SPO in 2024 can be found in the 2024 Report.
