The 2022 annual report of the Kosovo Specialist Chambers (KSC) together with the annual report of the Specialist Prosecutors’ Office (SPO) is now available on the KSC website in the three official languages of the court: Albanian, Serbian and English. The report provides detailed information about the activities of the KSC and the SPO over the course of 2022, as well as information about the functions and activities of the independent Ombudsperson of the KSC.
During 2022, the judicial activities of the KSC continued to increase. Two trial judgments were issued over the course of the year and two cases were transferred from the pre-trial to the trial phase. For the first time since the KSC became judicially operational, the Pre-Trial Judge, Trial Panels, Court of Appels Panels, the Supreme Court Panel and the Specialist Chambers of the Constitutional Court were all active and rendered close to 660 decisions and orders.
Over the course of the year, 40 additional victims were admitted to participate in the proceedings in two cases. Sixty-five public hearings were streamed online in the three languages of the court, during which 22 witnesses and one victim appeared before the court. The video streaming pages of the KSC website, where people can follow the hearings online, had over 42,000 views.
KSC President Trendafilova travelled to Kosovo in September 2022 to meet with civil society and media representatives in support of the KSC Outreach Programme. As part of the Outreach programme, KSC representatives travel to Kosovo about once a month to meet with different audiences to provide information about the court and to answer people’s questions. Thirty-four Outreach events were held in Kosovo in 2022.
More information about the activities of the KSC and the SPO in 2022 can be found in the 2022 Report.
