In January, Registrar Dr Fidelma Donlon has signed an agreement with the Government of Switzerland to fund outreach activities of the Kosovo Specialist Chambers and Specialist Prosecutor’s Office in Kosovo over 2018 to 2019. The donation, in the amount of 181,200 EUR, will be used to continue their work with national and regional stakeholders in order to enhance two-way communication with Kosovo citizens and civil society.
As the Specialist Chambers became fully judicially operational and adopted key normative documents, its outreach programme is to intensify and widen in scope. The activities envisaged through the outreach programme are aimed to foster dialogue, transparency, better understanding, clarity of messages and objective reporting on relocated judicial proceedings outside Kosovo and to counter some of the challenges associated with their management. The outreach programme activities will address and interact with various groups of society, i.e. civil society, media, legal and academic communities, students and youth, as well as the general public.
On the conclusion of the agreement, President Ekaterina Trendafilova stated: “With its generous donation as a Contributing State, Switzerland provides its valuable support to a vital aspect of the institutions – to disseminate knowledge and information to the general public about the mandate and work of the Specialist Chambers and Specialist Prosecutor’s Office. I express my sincere gratitude and utmost appreciation for the commitment of the Swiss Government demonstrated by this Agreement.”
