The Pre-Trial Judge in the Shala case issued two decisions today in relation to the Defence's motions challenging the form of the indictment and the establishment/jurisdiction of the Specialist Chambers. Having found that the confirmed indictment in this case needs to be amended in order to, inter alia, provide the required level of specificity and clarity, Judge Guillou granted in part the Defence's motion and ordered the Specialist Prosecutor's Office to submit a corrected version of the indictment no later than 1 November 2021. The remainder of the Defence's challenges to the form of the indictment were dismissed.

In the second decision, Judge Guillou rejected the Defence motion challenging the establishment and the jurisdiction of the Specialist Chambers as well as the alleged violations of the accused's constitutional rights.
