KSC Weekly Press Briefing on 19 September
Another KSC weekly press briefing will take place on Thursday, 19 September, at 14:30. During this briefing, the KSC Spokespersons will provide a short update on the latest developments in the judicial proceedings before the KSC, as well as on other public activities of the Court. Journalists will have the opportunity to ask questions. Pre-registration is required to attend each briefing. To pre-register, please send an email with name and affiliation to [email protected]. Deadline for pre-registration is every Thursday at 12:00. The Zoom details will be shared following pre-registration. Recordings of the update provided during the Weekly Press Briefings will be made available on the KSC YouTube Channel.

Thaçi et al. trial: new witness takes the stand this afternoon (18/09)
The SPO’s 86th witness has started testifying in court this afternoon. This is another protected witness with pseudonym W01129. According to the SPO, this witness was abducted by a group of armed KLA members near the Belaćevac mine in Fushë Kosovë/Kosovo Polje in mid-June 1999 and was subsequently detained at various locations in the area. The witness is providing testimony through a video link.

This morning, protected witness W04737 continued the testimony that started on 16 September. This is the 85th SPO witness to testify in court since the trial began last year.

Thaçi et al. trial: SPO files the latest notice regarding its witness list
In accordance with the Panel's order from 29 May, the SPO announced today, 16 September, that it will no longer rely upon the evidence of eleven witnesses. Additionally, the SPO will present the statements of 7 witnesses in written form instead of live testimony in court. Further information can be found in the notice.

Thaçi et al. trial: SPO calls its next witness (85th in court)
Protected witness W04737 is the next SPO witness, whose testimony commenced this morning. According to the SPO, this witness is a former KLA member in the Pashtrik Operational Zone. The testimony of this witness is expected to take place mostly in private session.

Salih Mustafa case: Court of Appeals Panel imposes new sentence
On 10 September 2024, the Court of Appeals Panel imposed in relation to Mustafa’s convictions for the war crimes of arbitrary detention, torture and murder sentences of respectively eight, 13 and 15 years of imprisonment and an overall sentence of 15 years with credit for the time served.
