On 20 June 2024, Pre-Trial Judge Marjorie Masselot granted the Januzi Defence's request for an extension of time, and ordered all Defence Teams to submit their Pre-Trial Briefs, if any, within seven days after the issuance of the pending decision on the SPO’s request to amend the indictment. Judge Masselot also set a new tentative date for transmitting the case file, which is currently set for 5 July, to fourteen days after the said decision is issued. 

Please note that this is the second extension of the initial deadline, following another request by the Bahtijari Defence granted on 6 June. See our post about that here.

On 13 June 2024, KSC President Ekaterina Trendafilova issued a final warning to Nasim Haradinaj to abide by all conditions set out in her decision on modification of sentence (“Decision”) issued last December. This warning comes after receiving multiple reports from the KSC Registrar, alerting the President to Haradinaj's contacts or interviews with the media over the past few months, without seeking the necessary approval as mandated in the Decision. Additionally, the President highlighted that Haradinaj had already been reminded earlier this year about the consequences of violating the Decision.

The President explained that, although the Decision could be revoked or modified immediately due to the breaches, she decided to give Haradinaj a final warning and made clear that any further breach would lead to his immediate return to the KSC Detention facilities to serve the remainder of the sentence.

On 5 June 2024, Judge Guillou granted the Bahtijari Defence's request for an extension of time, and ordered all Defence Teams to submit a Pre-Trial Brief, if any, by Thursday, 20 June 2024.

In the same decision, the Pre-Trial Judge set the new tentative date for transmitting the case file to the Trial Panel for Friday, 5 July 2024.

On 6 June 2024, Judge Nicolas Guillou submitted to President Ekaterina Trendafilova his resignation as Judge on the Roster of International Judges of the Kosovo Specialist Chambers (KSC), following his election as Judge of the International Criminal Court and his assumption of duties there.

On the same day, the Appointing Authority, Major General Giovanni Pietro Barbano, appointed Judge Marjorie Masselot (France) to the Roster of International Judges (Roster) in accordance with Article 28(4) of the Law on Specialist Chambers and Specialist Prosecutor’s Office. 

Following the resignation of Judge Guillou and appointment of Judge Masselot, President Trendafilova assigned Judge Masselot as Pre-Trial Judge in the Januzi et al. case, and as Single Judge in the case of Isni Kilaj.

Following the completion of Zoran Stanković's testimony, the trial in the Thaçi et al. case has adjourned for the day and the week. The proceedings will resume on Monday, 24 June, at 09:00.
