Following the completion of the testimony of the SPO’s 61st witness, today’s hearing in the Thaçi et al. trial has adjourned. The trial will continue tomorrow, 7 May, with a new witness expected to testify via video link.

The new witness, called by the Prosecution this morning, is a protected witness W01978. According to the Prosecution's summary in court, this witness was arrested and detained by KLA soldiers at various KLA detention facilities during the relevant period.

Decision on Resubmission of the Fourteenth Registry Report on Victims’ Applications in the Thaçi et al. case, issued on 22 January 2024, is now available in our public court records. Nine applicants were admitted to the proceedings as participating victims and will be included in the existing group of victims (Group 1 with 143 participating victims previously admitted) and shall be represented by the same Victims' Counsel. 

This brings the total number of participating victims in this case to 152. More details are available in the decision.

On 30 April 2024, Judge Guillou granted the Bahtijari Defence's third request for an extension, setting a new deadline of 3 May for the submission of the documents required to be considered for a request for KSC legal aid. This extension, like the previous one, was granted by Judge Guillou on the basis that good cause had been established.

Following the completion of the SPO's 60th witness testimony, the trial in the Thaçi et al. case has adjourned for the day and the week. This trial will resume on Monday, 6 May, at 09:00.

Another KSC weekly press briefing will take place on Thursday, 2 May, at 14:30. During this briefing, the KSC Spokespersons will provide a short update on the latest developments in the judicial proceedings before the KSC, as well as on other public activities of the Court. The testimony of Nuredin Abazi, the 59th witness for the Prosecution, was resumed this morning.

Following the completion of the testimony of the 58th witness, the next SPO witness commenced his testimony.

This Prosecution witness is Nuredin Abazi, who was, according to the summary presented by the SPO in court, a member of a KLA battalion in Budakovo, later serving as a legal adviser in Pashtrik zone.
