    Appeal hearing in the Mustafa case ends/judgment in due course

    Following the submissions by the parties yesterday and today, as well as the personal address by the appellant Mustafa, the appeal hearing in this case has concluded.  The Defence repeated its submissions from the appeal brief that the convictions should be overturned and, in case they are affirmed, the sentence be reduced. On the other hand, the SPO stated that the sentence should not be significantly or at all impacted, even if some of the convictions are overturned by the Court of Appeals Panel.

    The Court of Appeals Panel will render its judgment in due course.

    Mustafa: second day of the appeal hearing

    During the second day of the appeal hearing, the SPO will continue with their submissions, followed by the Victims’ Counsel and  the Defence’s reply. Today’s hearing is expected to conclude with the  personal address by Salih Mustafa. Please note that today’s hearing is expected to last until 12:10 and not until 11:10, as we previously announced.

    Salih Mustafa: the appeal hearing begins

    According to the schedule for today’s hearing, the Presiding Judge of the Court of Appeals Panel will first make the introductory statement, after which the Mustafa Defence will make its submissions on the appeal (1,5 hour), followed by the SPO’s response (also for 1,5 hour).

    KSC Weekly Press Briefing on 26 October

    Another KSC weekly press briefing will take place on Thursday, 26 October, at 14:30. During this briefing, the KSC Spokespersons will provide a short update on the latest developments in the judicial proceedings before the KSC, as well as on other public activities of the Court.     Shala trial adjourned until 20 November/sentence, if any, to be pronounced together with judgment

    After completion of the 4th Defence witness Mark Shala, the trial against Pjetër Shala has adjourned for today. The next hearing in this case is scheduled for 20 November at 09:30.

    In its oral order today, the Panel decided that, in case the accused is found guilty of one or more crimes charged, the sentence will be determined together with the pronouncement of the trial judgment as provided in the Rule 159(6) of the Rules.

    Shala trial: 4th Defence witness resumes testimony

    Witness Mark Shala continues his testimony in the trial of Pjetër Shala. Following the completion of the Defence’s direct examination yesterday, the SPO has commenced the cross-examination of this witness this morning.
