Thaçi et al. trial: new witness in the courtroom

Following the completion of the testimony of the SPO’s 20th witness W04368, another witness, who testifies without protective measures, appeared in the courtroom today. The witness is Agim Idrizi, from the municipality of Kaçanik/Kačanik, who will testify about his alleged abduction and detention by the KLA members in 1999.

Thaçi et al. trial: testimony of a new SPO witness begins

Protected witness W04368 has commenced testimony this morning. This is the 20th witness called by the SPO so far. According to the short summary, read in court by the SPO, the testimony of  this witness will be about the alleged disappearance of the witness’ relative in 1998.

Hashim Thaçi: custodial visit to Kosovo

Due to compelling humanitarian grounds, the Trial Panel has instructed the Registry to manage a custodial visit to Kosovo for Hashim Thaçi to meet family. The Accused remains in detention and in the custody of the Specialist Chambers. EULEX and Kosovo Police are supporting the Kosovo Specialist Chambers.

KSC Weekly Press Briefing on 31 August

Another KSC weekly press briefing will take place on Thursday, 31 August, at 14:30. During this briefing, the KSC Spokespersons will provide a short update on the latest developments in the judicial proceedings before the KSC, as well as on other public activities of the Court. Journalists will have the opportunity to ask questions. Pre-registration is required to attend each briefing. To pre-register, please send an email with name and affiliation to [email protected]. Deadline for pre-registration is every Thursday at 12:00. The Zoom details will be shared following pre-registration. Recordings of the update provided during the Weekly Press Briefings will be made available on the KSC YouTube Channel.

Pjetër Shala: Constitutional Court dismisses the latest referral re. fundamental rights violations

On 29 August 2023, the Specialist Chamber of the Constitutional Court (SCCC), composed of Judges Vidar Stensland, Roumen Nenkov and Romina Incutti, issued its decision on the latest referral by Pjetër Shala alleging violations of his fundamental rights, filed on 10 July this year. The Panel found the referral premature and therefore declared it inadmissible pursuant to Article 113(7) of the Constitution, Article 49(3) of the Law and Rule 14(f) of the Rules of Procedure for the SCCC. Here is the Panel's decision.

Thaçi et al. trial: the 19th SPO witness takes the stand

A new protected witness (with the pseudonym W04566) has commenced testimony in the trial of Thaçi and others. According to the short summary, read in court by the SPO, the testimony of this witness will be about an alleged detention and disappearance of the witness’ family member in Drenoc/Drenovac. As was the case for the previous witness (W03832), whose testimony concluded earlier today, the testimony of the new witness is also expected to take place mostly in private session.
