The President of the Kosovo Specialist Chambers (KSC), Judge Ekaterina Trendafilova today sincerely congratulated Ms Kim West on her appointment as the new Specialist Prosecutor.
Referring to the Specialist Prosecutor’s extensive experience in the field of criminal law, both domestically and internationally, President Trendafilova noted that Ms West “will undoubtedly serve the Specialist Prosecutor’s Office well and will significantly contribute to the efficient fulfilment of the Office’s mandate”. President Trendafilova stated that she “looks forward to establishing a productive working relationship with Ms West at the institutional level and wished Ms West all the best as she takes up her role as the institution’s third Specialist Prosecutor.
President Trendafilova also acknowledged the amount of work undertaken by her predecessor, Mr Jack Smith, during his tenure as Specialist Prosecutor, as well as Mr Alex Whiting, the Acting Specialist Prosecutor, who ensured the continuity of the work of the Specialist Prosecutor’s Office (SPO) following Mr Smith’s departure.
Finally, President Trendafilova observed that with the appointment of Ms West, the KSC and the SPO now have three female Principals, which demonstrates the progress that is being made in the field of international criminal law.
