In relation to today’s appointment of Mr Jack Smith to the position of Specialist Prosecutor in accordance with the Law on Specialist Chambers and Specialist Prosecutor’s Office, the President of the Kosovo Specialist Chambers, Judge Ekaterina Trendafilova stated:
“I sincerely congratulate Mr Smith on his appointment, and I trust that his extensive experience in criminal investigation and prosecution, both in the United States and internationally, will prove instrumental to the fulfilment of the mandate of the Specialist Prosecutor’s Office. I am looking forward to establishing a fruitful working relationship with Mr Smith, and I am confident that the Specialist Prosecutor’s Office will advance towards the fulfilment of its mandate.”
President Trendafilova also acknowledged the work of Mr Kwai Hong Ip, the Deputy Specialist Prosecutor, who ensured the continuity of the work of the Specialist Prosecutor’s Office in the meantime.
